The Masters of Crystal

CZECH NATIONAL BALLET’s Snow Queen is Resplendent with PRECIOSA Crystal

Snehova kralovna Narodni divadlo

The fairy tale about the cruel queen who charmed the boy Kai, using a small fragment of a magic mirror, trapping him in her world without love, probably needs no introduction.  The famous British choreographer Michael Corder created the ballet rendition, to the music of Sergei Prokofiev, for the British National Ballet.  Now the Snow Queen will be starring on centre stage, part of the ballet repertoire of the Czech National Theatre. It is a great story, in the traditional sense, which captivates its audience with not only spectacular dance performances, but with brilliant and sparkling design as well.  It is a lavish affair:  the costume of the Snow Queen shimmers with over 30 thousand Czech crystal components.

PRECIOSA was involved in creating the magnificent costumes and the jewellery accessories for the Snow Queen.  For the occasion, PRECIOSA also created a licensed jewellery collection for devotees of the National Theatre.

Although it may not be apparent at first sight, there is a close artistic relationship between PRECIOSA and the Czech National Ballet Theatre.  Just as Preciosa’s components are known for their pristine faceted cuts, the National Theatre Ballet can be compared to a glowing crystal, which, thanks to artistic skill and perfect technique can glow from within, from the souls of its dancers.

Do not miss the opportunity to see this incredible production, sparkling with the vibrant colours of PRECIOSA crystal, on centre stage of the Czech National Theatre this spring.
